Graphics/Prepress
Our Graphics Department is responsible for
preparing artwork for placement into pages. We can work with materials
prepared in Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, and Quark, and can
convert most Microsoft Word charts and graphics to Illustrator. We can
also convert PDF graphics to Illustrator or Photoshop (depending on
file type), and we handle scanning of photographs and graphics in high
resolution for final use or low resolution for FPO purposes.
New
graphics are created in Illustrator (unless the customer requests use
of another program), either by inhouse staff or, for larger projects,
by freelance artists.
Our Prepress Department uses Enfocus
PitStop to preflight all PDF files that we have prepared for the
printer. Use of this program ensures that the files are printable and
that all high resolution graphics, colors, and fonts are included.
After this, we do a final check for correct running heads, first and
last word on page, bleeds, trim sizes, and completeness of the file
map.
